Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 in 1983. She is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. The couple had separated and she moved with her mom in Los Angeles. The actress landed her first part in the film, Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001 despite struggling financially. In 2002 she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murdered Martha Moxley. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost on which she acted as a principal actor for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace decided to concentrate on film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. The role was reprised for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised the role of Shannon for two additional episodes of Lost as well as the show's finale. She also appeared in the sixth series of Californication. The actress plays Faith an actress in a group and as her muse to the stars who captures the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was a teenager with small parts in a few films directed by her father. She also worked with her brother on the 2001 cult movie Donnie Darko. She then appeared on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her leading performances in the romantic erotic comedy Secretary (2002) and in the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) each of which brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following many highly successful movies, such as World Trade Center (2006), brought Gyllenhaal greater fame. In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination to the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The following year, she starred in dramatics and comedies: Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Alongside her work as a Secret Service agent, she was also seen as a character in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). The latest roles included as the main character of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal began her career as screenwriter and director in 2021, when she wrote and directed the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter. The film won Best Screenplay at the Venice International Film Festival, and was later nominated by the Academy Award.
